A well-maintained railway is a better railway.
Reliable services depend on the consistent, intelligent maintenance of railway assets. Octavius keeps the railway safe and performing, protecting the investment customers have made and the trust passengers place in the network.
Asset failure on the railway has consequences that reach far beyond the railway itself. Delayed services, emergency repairs, speed restrictions and network disruption all have a knock-on effect on passenger confidence, economic productivity and public trust in rail. The answer is intelligent, proactive maintenance that keeps assets performing and catches problems before they become failures.

Octavius delivers multi-disciplinary maintenance services for Network Rail and other rail customers, including planned maintenance programmes, responsive callouts and emergency works. Our teams work across structures, drainage, OLE, track and civils, providing integrated capability that reduces the complexity and cost of managing multiple contractors.
Rail Services
Maintaining railway assets requires an in-depth understanding of operational railways, access constraints, possession planning and the importance of keeping passengers and freight moving safely and reliably. Octavius delivers maintenance services across the rail environment, supporting Network Rail and train operating companies through planned maintenance, asset renewals, defect response and emergency interventions. Working within some of the UK's busiest rail corridors, we combine engineering expertise with collaborative planning and efficient delivery to minimise disruption while maximising asset performance.

By improving reliability, extending asset life and reducing the risk of unplanned failures, our work helps minimise service disruption, improve passenger experiences and deliver better value from long-term infrastructure investment. Through safe, responsive and data-informed maintenance services, we help create a more resilient railway that supports economic growth, connects communities and keeps people moving with confidence.
Multi-disciplinary, genuinely integrated
True multi-disciplinary maintenance is a different way of managing asset health. One where drainage and structures teams see each other's work, where a civils repair considers its OLE implications, where the whole asset system is understood rather than managed in silos.
That is how we operate.
Asset Surveys
Survey data of the existing asset is essential to inform the design and delivery of these complex projects. Innovative approaches such as drone surveys are used to keep everyone safe and traffic moving, and we have engaged with leading specialist SENSAT to survey the M25, the output is a 3D digital map of the M25 ‘a digital twin’ which can be shared across the framework contractors.
Data-led and safety-first
We invest in asset condition data, inspection regimes and performance monitoring, giving clients the intelligence to make better maintenance investment decisions. And across everything we do, our our safety, health and wellbeing standards set the tone: no job is urgent enough to compromise safety.
