Building a Legacy

Creating opportunity in every place we work.

Transport infrastructure creates jobs, but only if the contractor makes it happen. Octavius recruits locally, trains actively and invests in the communities around every project, creating pathways into the industry for people who might not otherwise find them.

The economic case for local investment

When a major infrastructure project arrives in an area, it brings resources: financial, technical and human. Whether those resources benefit the local community or flow out of it is largely determined by the choices the contractor makes. Octavius makes deliberate choices: to recruit locally where possible, to spend with local and regional supply chain partners, to train apprentices and support people into the industry, and to invest in the social fabric of the communities we work in. This is not altruism.

It is a recognition that infrastructure investment has the most lasting impact when it generates local economic and social benefit alongside the physical asset. Our clients, particularly local and combined authorities, increasingly require this. We go further than required, because we believe it is the right way to work.
