Stations that welcome. Depots that work.
A station is a community gateway. A depot is the engine room of a rail operation. Octavius builds and refurbishes both to the standard people deserve.
Access for all >Passengers judge the railway partly by what they encounter before they board. A well-maintained, welcoming station communicates that their journey matters. A cold, tired, poorly-lit station communicates the opposite, and suppresses rail usage. Station investment is transport investment, but it is also community investment, town centre regeneration and a signal of economic confidence.
Octavius delivers new station builds, station refurbishments, platform extensions and depot fit-outs. We work with Network Rail, train operators and combined authorities to create spaces that passengers want to use and staff are proud to work in.
Charfield Station, giving a community its railway back
Charfield, Gloucestershire had been without a railway station for over 40 years. Octavius was part of the team that changed that. A new station, designed around the community and built to last, reconnected a village to the rail network and opened up new opportunities for residents, visitors and local businesses.
Stations as places, not just stops
The best stations do more than provide a platform. They anchor communities, attract investment and create footfall for local businesses. We work with customers and stakeholders to design stations that achieve all of this; functional, beautiful, accessible and connected to the places around them.
Depots built for performance
Train maintenance depots are technically complex, highly regulated environments. Our teams deliver fit-outs, refurbishments and new depot infrastructure to the exacting standards required by train operators — on time and on programme, with minimum disruption to operational fleets.
